For the second year in a row, Motorola Solutions has been named by Fast Company as one of the ‘Best Workplaces for Innovators – Large Companies’. This award acknowledges our team’s unwavering commitment to bringing innovation to the forefront throughout 2020 — even in a time of rapid change and uncertainty. Receiving this recognition two years in a row is an accomplishment for which our company takes great pride.
From building the communication system that carried the first words from the moon to introducing the first cellular phone, we are proud of our legacy of firsts. And when the COVID-19 pandemic changed not only our personal lives, but also the way we worked, we remained steadfast in our service to our customers.
We continued to excel, adding 500 new patents to our portfolio to bring our total to 7,400 patents granted and pending in the U.S. We acquired a number of new companies to grow our portfolio and add additional expertise to our company. We didn’t skip a beat when transitioning customer interviews, trade shows and hackathons to virtual settings. And we realigned R&D spend to better serve customers with pandemic-related technology like COVID-analytics and distance learning solutions.
All these achievements are a testament to never losing sight of how our innovations make a real difference — to our customers, our communities and the world. With innovation as the backbone of Motorola Solutions’ rich 90 year plus history and our employees’ relentless commitment to innovate solutions that make the world a safer place, I know our next 90 years of innovation will be just as strong.
