When a citizen calls in an emergency, multiple things begin happening at once. The software you have in place to capture critical details can either make or break each incident, impacting both your agency and the lives on the other end of the phone. That’s why Motorola Solutions specializes in public safety software that provides the information you need, when you need it. A critical portion of that lies within the command center, where computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and situational awareness software come together in real time to support incident response. And many advancements are happening with our software to support the evolving technology needs of public safety answering points (PSAPs) and real-time crime centers.

CommandCentral Aware

CommandCentral Aware is Motorola Solutions’ state-of-the-art situational awareness software that streamlines agency data into a helpful and digestible format, consolidating all critical incident information into one complete operating picture. The result is like having an extra set of eyes in the field. And what agency couldn’t use that?

Agencies across the country are facing an increasing volume of data and an influx of video feeds. Many administrators want to embrace this new video intelligence but worry about the perceived man power required to watch and make sense of all of the video streams. CommandCentral Aware takes care of this using robust analytical tools that indicate whether an incident has occurred and then send notifications to the appropriate intelligence analysts, command center personnel and field personnel. It also utilizes responder alerts to show when an incident has escalated, such as when an officer draws a weapon. This can not only improve decision-making for your dispatchers and other responders, but it also eliminates the need for a 24-hour dedicated resource manning video streams.

Think this type of functionality is only available to the largest public safety departments? Think again. By utilizing the cloud, all of these analytics in CommandCentral Aware are available to agencies of any size. That means this robust, common operating picture displayed via CommandCentral Aware is available to you anytime, anywhere, on any internet-enabled device. Cloud deployments lower capital and operating expenses while expediting the speed of new technology adoption for many agencies.

Lastly, the data collected during the initial response is applicable after the initial incident. For example, questions can arise during an investigation where it’s helpful to be able to look up past patrol information. CommandCentral Aware provides the ability to find the historic path of a device location, such as a radio or patrol car. This information is stored for up to 90 days and can be easily searched using a date range or time frame. This type of information can also be helpful in communicating to any constituents you may have that are concerned about a lack of police presence in their area.

Spillman Flex CAD

Another critical Motorola Solutions product, Spillman Flex CAD, connects responders with complete, life-saving information in an integrated and off-the-shelf solution built for single or multiple jurisdictional dispatch. Although Flex CAD has decades of experience as a leading integrated solution for agencies across the country, it’s got some new integrations that are making waves. Radio waves, to be specific.

First, the Flex CAD Motorola ASTRO Radio integration allows your dispatchers to easily track resource location and status in a single CAD map for enhanced situational awareness for both the dispatcher and first responders. With recently enhanced functionality, the CAD system can now synchronize the radio device alias information with the ASTRO radio system, making it easier for everyone in your agency to manage aliases in one location. As new devices are added to the Motorola ASTRO system, they are automatically added to the Flex AVL system and appear on the CAD map, greatly reducing new radio setup time for your IT personnel.

Perhaps most importantly, the enhanced integration also means enhanced responder safety. Not only can you track the location of first responders both inside and outside of their vehicles, but first responders are empowered to communicate quickly during critical moments. When a serious incident arises, first responders do not always have the luxury of communicating vocally with dispatch. Utilizing the Flex CAD Motorola ASTRO Radio integration, you can push an emergency button on the radio to send an alert back to dispatch via the Flex CAD map, saving precious time.

PremierOne CAD

Our final product to highlight, PremierOne CAD, streamlines the data flow from call-taking to dispatch to help you coordinate response to large-scale incidents with decisive speed and maximum configuration. One of the newest additions to PremierOne CAD is responder alerts. This functionality empowers dispatchers and other command center officials to take immediate action to protect responders in critical moments through robust sensor technology. The system automatically alerts dispatchers if an event has escalated, such as a drawn weapon or pierced vest. Dispatchers are then able to send the appropriate resources, whether that be backup or medical assistance, even if the responder is incapacitated or otherwise occupied. This automated technology puts the safety of personnel front and center in any critical situation, improving the overall outcome for first responders.

The second enhancement is integration with RapidSOS. Now, you can enjoy improved response time and call location accuracy, within as little as three seconds of taking the call in PremierOne CAD. This accuracy and time frame are even extended to callers on the move. The system can provide accurate location up to three seconds every time the call taker re-bids the location. In a society where individuals are constantly on the go, this feature can be both time-saving and life-saving. You can now review more detailed caller information before even starting the conversation. This streamlines data entry and speeds up the overall response time, resulting in better service to the community.

We know that any given incident can be made worse or better depending on the software and communication devices behind the responding team. Both your first responders and those back at the agency need technology that not only gives them the information they need when they need it, but is also continually evolving to match the rising demands of your agency and community. The updates highlighted here are just a few of the enhancements coming to the end-to-end CommandCentral software suite. More enhancements will be announced during our annual users’ conference, Summit 2019, so be sure to register today to get a first look at everything coming to the suite!
