The Administration at Royse City Independent School District knows how important safety and security are to an effective learning environment. To foster a love of learning in all of their students, they turned to Motorola Solutions to help make that a possibility. With a comprehensive video security and analytics system the growing Texas-based school district has transformed its many campuses to adhere to new state safety standards.
Operating with a 23-person security team already, administrators wanted to make it easier to monitor the buildings and manage student-related events while maintaining strong communication within their team. Like any district, a large focus for Royse City was to control and deter student misconduct and vandalism. With the addition of the Avigilon camera system, staff can monitor hallways and classrooms to detect incidents before they happen. The previous system was hard to use and combined a number of different systems with different logins. The ecosystem is crucial given the evolving district and the growing pains that come along with the expansions. With the addition of new schools, the district needs a security system that blends with the existing schools, and for those existing schools needing to increase or upgrade their systems to meet the new state standards a new innovative system was needed.

Funding from bonds allows the Royse City school district to have unified communication across all of their campuses, administration, security teams, teachers, and beyond everyone can be informed about events as they are happening. The positive reaction from staff and parents has prompted the district to plan for more cameras and analytics in the future. They plan to train teachers and staff on AI and analytic software to get the most out of their current systems. They have already added the Avtec dispatch solution to their new emergency operations center, purchasing Motorola Solutions body-worn cameras and connecting Rave Mobile Safety’s mass notification and incident management system.
This innovative technology ensures that the schools can be proactive and not reactive, stopping incidents before they occur.
